Biggert Statement on January Jobs Report

Statement

Date: Feb. 3, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Judy Biggert (R-IL-13th) today issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Labor reported that the unemployment rate last month dropped to 8.3 percent from 8.5 percent in December:

"We're finally starting to move in the right direction, and that's great news. But we have a long trek up a steep hill and Washington has to pick up the pace so millions of out-of-work Americans can provide for their families. In the weeks ahead, the President and Congress need to come together to create an environment where our job creators have the certainty they need to grow. That means setting aside election-year games and agreeing on a year-long extension of the payroll tax cut, a responsible budget that cuts our debt, and dozens of House-passed jobs bills that are still awaiting action in the Senate."
